VICTORIA -- It's that time of year again, starting today the War Amps address stickers will head out in the mail to donors who support "amputees helping amputees". The "Champs" program is celebrating its thirty-fifth anniversary, and all money raised goes directly toward helping local amputees and children like 4 year old Marin Piasentin who with the help of here prosthetic arm, can do anything. She was born without a right arm, the result of a congenital amputation. But with every bounce, somersault and swing, she's proving she's able to adapt above and beyond expectations says her gym coach Bobbi Miller. "When we do bars and things she'll hook her arm around because that's easier and she does the same for the rings. And she can do her spider walk up the wall where she walks her toes up the wall. There's not really anything she can't do. The prosthetic limb needs to be replaced every three years, along with additional attachments. But with a price tag in the thousands, without financial support from War Amps, most amputees would be forced to sit out says her mom Chantelle. "It allows all these children across the country that are missing a limb for whatever reason where it be an accident, congenital amputation or accident to be able to do things in daily life that other kids can do that without a device they'd be unable to do completely."
